The Staithes RNLI lifeboat, ‘Pride of Leicester’, was launched at 10:50am on Thursday when the local fishing vessel ‘Flora Jane’ suffered engine problems.
The skipper managed to anchor the vessel just outside Staithes Harbour. One of the lifeboat team spotted the vessel and could see the skipper working on the engine. After a short radio conversation the fishing boat’s skipper asked for help and so the volunteer lifeboat crew were paged.
The lifeboat was soon launched and after ten minutes the ‘Flora Jane’ was safely towed in to Staithes harbour.
