4.15pm - Launched to assist in recovering a body

Staithes & Runswick lifeboat launched at 4:15pm after a request from the police to assist recovering a body at the base of Cowbar cliffs, about half a mile north of Staithes.

The lifeboat launched with two police officers onboard but stoodby the scene as the body was recovered by the police helicopter.
