Search for Missing Man
Staithes RNLI lifeboat launched at 10:30am on Sunday morning to assist the police search for a missing and vulnerable man.
The 23 year old male was believed to have gone missing around the Staithes and Hinderwell area. The lifeboat volunteers searched the shoreline from Boulby to Runswick Bay but returned to Staithes an hour later after no one was sighted. The man was found safe and well, inland, sometime later.
Also involved in the search was Runswick Bay rescue boat, coastguard teams and an RAF rescue helicopter.
We began the search shortly after high tide and so could get quite close in to the base of the cliffs. The visibility was quite poor at times with the coastal fog and we are pleased that the man was found safe and well.
