14th May: Art Exhibition Raises Over £3000 for Lifeboat
An art exhibition held over the Easter holidays in Staithes Gallery has raised £3099 in aid of Staithes Lifeboat and the RNLI’s ‘Train One, Save Many’ campaign.
Staithes Gallery first opened its doors at Easter 2006 with an exhibition to raise funds for the RNLI. This second show was over three floors of exhibition space and was full of new work by 30 of the best artists living or working in the area.
Dave Manship, head of the station fundraising committee, says:
‘The money donated to the RNLI comes from a percentage of the sales of paintings. We really are grateful to the artists involved and to the owners of the gallery, David and Alison Yates. We would also like to thank those people who bought pictures from the exhibition.’
There are also a couple of pictures being raffled and tickets can be bought at the gallery. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday 12 August, coinciding with Staithes lifeboat weekend. So far about £1400 has been raised through this.
